It’s been two weeks since I last made this post, for two reasons.
- The response from people has been poor. Come on bloggers, it doesn’t take long to come up with just one tip for people – especially as you’re giving lots of these tips out daily.
- I’ve been very busy with work and the Jubilee weekend, which was bloody brilliant.
One good thing though – I’ve had a post published on ProBlogger about this very part of my blog.
This is a collection of tips I’ve had over the past couple of weeks.
Smarty Pig says set up at least one savings goal and auto-contribute to it monthly. That’s a good idea. I think in the States, they have something called lay-away – and in the UK we have different kinds of bank accounts that let us do this without being allowed to touch what we’ve put in.
Money Bulldog links us to a great post of his about saving money on coffee – I’m not a coffee drinker myself (well, maybe an Irish one if I’m in the mood), but he’s dead right about the cost of coffee. You can’t walk anywhere these days without a Costa, Starbucks or whatever coffee shop sign is about. Surely it’s best just not to drink the stuff.
Fat Wallet advises us to find cashback, shop with coupons, look for places that offer free shipping and use rewards cards. Nowadays there are thousands of sites that can help us find these things, so you have no excuses for not using them.
Amanda Bishop – Twitter Account tells us to plan our dinner each day around what needs using up. By looking at best before and sell by dates, you can work out what has to be eaten and what can wait. Great tip Amanda, thanks!
Be Frugal says shop online so you can always use a coupon code. This is definitely a good tip and one I use all the time. If you get to the checkout and ask for a coupon code, always have a Google search to see if you can find one.
So there you are for the last fortnight. Hopefully now we’ve been on Problogger, people will stop thinking we’re spammers and actually answer our questions.
If you have any tips or you’d like to add a tip to this weeks, leave a comment or send us an Email .
Thanks for reading!
