As the London 2012 Olympics get closer people have began to ask themselves how they can cut back on how much the games will cost them. We thought we would have a look at savings on offer during the seventeen days that London hosts the biggest sporting event in the world.
One way that you can make some great savings, if you are lucky enough to have tickets for an Olympic event is on accommodation. Not surprisingly, most hotels have increased their rates for the period of the games, when many of them will be charging several hundred pounds for a single night stay. A really cheap option, which will potentially save a large amount of money, is to look into some of the campsites around London. For the price of a tent (if you don’t already have one) and only around £10 per night in campsite fees, you can stay somewhere which is only a short train ride from London. Even when you factor in the transport costs, the accommodation savings will be huge compared to a stay in a hotel, especially if you are planning to be there for a few days. The only potential downside is the unpredictable summer weather. Even then, you might still think it is worth taking a risk with the weather to achieve these savings.
